Tuesday 1st September 2009 - Which magazine reports on HIPS

The September Edition of Which contains a report for consumers on HIPS and recommends that consumers should purchase Hips from specialist Hip supplier such as The Hips Centre………

This month's edition of the consumer interest magazine Which contains an informative section on Hips. The article explains the need for a HIP and lists the compulsory components. Mention is also made of the optional documents that can be placed in a Hip at the discretion of a Seller.

Which points out that you can obtain a HIP from a specialist Hip provider or through an estate agent, solicitor or conveyancer. However the report says "make sure your Hip is ordered from a firm that is signed up to the Hipcode and check that it is registered with the Property Codes Compliance Board (PCCB) by visiting its website at www.propertycodes.org.uk

The Hips Centre subscribes to the code and is registered with the PCCB as recommended by Which.

The Which report also contains a brief Price Comparison and concludes that Direct Hip providers such as The Hips Centre generally offer the cheapest deal and that Hips purchased through Estate Agents may include a mark up. The comparison shows that Hips for Leasehold Properties cost a minimum £20 more than for Freehold.
